Those that meet him often refer to him as cold or standoffish, but he just shrugs the complaints of others off. He just doesn't care what they have to say. Why pretend to listen to what others have to say if you really don't care? Better to ignore them on continue on your way. At least that's what Buck thinks anyway. [break][break] Aside from his apparent apathy, Buck is what some would consider a brooder. It's not his fault that all he can think about is how much his life sucks. If he isn't busy at the computer he's probably laying in bed, staring at the ceiling, thinking about how great it'd be to just not exist. [break][break] All this self hate stems from the fact that Buck considers himself, and everything he's done, a failure. He failed his island challenge miserably and was never able to beat it despite the many times he tried. Even after joining Team Skull he failed to do everything they asked of him, not having the heart to steal someone's pokemon. Despite being apathetic and cold, Buck still holds his pokemon dear and would never break that bond for someone else. [break][break] BIOGRAPHY: Alola is usually thought of calm and tranquil, the perfect place for a vacationing tourist; yet, for the people that live there, it can be quite the opposite. Take Buck for example. He grew up like the average Alolan citizen: dreaming of defeating the Island Challenge, learning the many customs of the islands, and of course paying respect to the guardian deities that protect their islands. The young boy trained his starter pokemon, an Alolan Vulpix from the nearby Mount Lanakila, in order to participate in the Island Challenge. At the age of eleven he, like most other children of Alola, left home to begin his challenge. [break][break] At the age of eleven, Team Skull invaded his home town. It was an attack that no one saw coming. There had been rumors of a team of rascals getting together but they were never taken very seriously. Their leader was just some kid who could barely get anything done. Besides, if the rumors were true, this team was made of losers -- Island Challengers who failed. [break][break] It was a relatively peaceful transition as the Team Skull members allowed the former residents of Po Town to leave with most of their belongings. Buck's parents let him know they were fine and what had happened days before his first Grand Trial. The stress consumed him. As it would anybody, especially someone so young. [break][break] He was only eleven years old when he lost his first Grand Trial. The Kahuna assured him that many people failed their first attempt and to try again once his pokemon were better trained. Buck didn't care though. He failed. He was a failure. The all consuming fear for his parents turned into hate. Hate for himself. Hate for failure. When he arrived to his new home of Malie City his parents were confused and worried with his attitude. It was as if the Island Challenge had changed him, and not for the better. [break][break] This hate, or fear, of failure kept Buck from pursuing the Island Challenge any further. Instead, he secluded himself in his room and took to his computer. He needed information on Team Skull. For if there was anyone to blame for his failure [break][break] Once there, however, he was easily captured. Another failure, it'd been years since he had properly trained with his pokemon and it showed. One of the admins took pity on him though. For, as she explained, they were a team of misfits, screwups, and failures. It seemed as if Buck had found a home. [break][break] Buck stayed with Team Skull for a few years and grew his battle prowess under the watchful eye of that particular admin. She was an incredible trainer and Buck admired her. She even started calling him "Bucky", a name his mother used to call him by. For this short period of time he was happy. He was able to forget about his failures. Until he failed Team Skull and, more importantly, that admin. [break][break] They had grown in numbers enough to begin trying bigger and badder things, and Buck had grown powerful enough and important enough to take part. He was more than just their hacker. He was someone the other grunts went to for help. This also meany he was to take part in a mission to steal some pokemon. Buck did as he was told and led his group on a Pokemon Center raid but when the time came to collect the pokemon he couldn't. There was something inside of him that just knew how those people would feel. [break][break] Returning empty handed was not something one did when in Team Skull. The admin was furious and went off on him, calling him "nothing more than a failure that'll amount to nothing". And Buck believed her. Disgusted with himself, with the team, with that one admin he left Team Skull and Alola. He needed to get away from the tropical isles that were his home so he went to the polar opposite: a desert land known for its cruelty. [break][break] It was harsh, but Buck thrived. Many different groups were in need of the technologically inclined and it wasn't long until he received an anonymous email inviting him to join a mysterious organization known as "The Grid". With nothing to lose, and seemingly everything to gain, he joined. [break][break] FIREWALL ♀ [break] Snowcloak, Calm [break] Dazzling Gleam, Ice Beam, Confuse Ray, Moonblast, Sheer Cold, Extrasensory [break] HISTORY: His starter Pokemon and best friend, Firewall has been through thick and thin with Buck and truly understands him. [break][break] ANONYMOUS ♂ [break] Disguise, Impish [break] Shadow Sneak, Play Rough, Shadow Claw, Wood Hammer, Curse, Double Team [break] HISTORY: A silly little thing, Buck met Anonymous when he failed his first Island Challenge many years ago. Buck felt a connection to the “failed” version of pikachu (and how Anonymous lacked confidence) and thought he would make a great addition to his band of misfits.
