Getting along with the undercover Cipher grunt is easy with his sociable personality. Joseph seems like your typically easy-going civilian with nothing better to do than socialize with others. This could be nothing further from the truth as he is willing to kill and maim anybody to further his standing within Cipher. This doesn't mean that his goofball persona is all that fake, he simply plays the role because he enjoys it and lightheartedness. Joseph is more instinctive when outside of missions as he does what he wants merely because he wants to do it. He has developed a fine line between the goofball Joseph and Cipher Joseph as he can get serious while on missions.

Joseph has had a difficult time maintaining relationships. Sometimes it was of how insincere he seems at times, and some other times it was caused by his many jobs to earn money for his sister. The only thing that holds true for Joseph is that he sucks at maintaining relationships. While he will have a fling or two here and there, they remain at that. Despite how often he tells himself that he will step out of the romance game, the next day he ends up chasing after some cute girl. With his flirtatious nature Joseph has a bad habit of saving any damsel in distress. Usually his heroic acts leads to him getting his ass whopped or him chained up to a bedpost with his wallet missing. Joseph tends to take these humiliating scenes fairly well if that amounts to anything...

Once somebody finds out Joseph's real identity as a Cipher Grunt most would regard him as a selfish scumbag. While he won't refute those words he would merely shrug them off. While it's difficult to hate the friendly Joseph that he portrays to others, once they realize that he's nothing more than a self-motivated, merciless killer that usually pushes them away. Joseph has an ego on him to the point where he could be called arrogant, but it's at the fine line between charming and obnoxious. The combination of his ego and meddlesome nature tends to have him side by side with trouble. So it would take a while for somebody to truly decide if their Joseph's enemy, unless they are unfortunate enough to meet him while in his Cipher uniform.

and js, emi is going to love joseph's ego. it's very endearing.

Yesss, on mobile so please mind the errors and whatnot. So to add some more back story to this little idea. Some of the higher ups are pleased with Joseph's dedication so they use Emi to see if Joseph could be trusted with some of Cipher more...in-depth research processes. Maybe the test will involve something darker dunno but just putting it out there that the tests could be some sort of test to grasp Joseph's personality. But yeah just tell what watcha think if you don't like it its cool just some more back story for this and also a reason for Emi to go analysis on Joseph. ÉMILIE LAURENT

no problem man! i’m loving how you’ve fleshed it out because it gives us so much stuff to work with esp considering joseph's background. i love the potential analysis of joseph as well *u* cipher strikes me the exact kind of organisation that would branch into experiments like that. i love it! i can start the thread?

idea: joseph is on a mission for cipher to abduct a scientist who might be useful for their shadow pokemon project. sophia just so happens to be staying with the scientist's family as a houseguest and defends the scientist out of obligation to her host. i don't know how joseph feels about punching a girl in pink cleffa pajama pants, but sophia is definitely willing to punch him

Yesss, this sounds like a great idea. To add out some more fleshing to this (more of a general idea of what's going to happen after he sneaks in). So a gang of Cipher baddies show up with Joseph being one of them. Flashforward and Joseph takes off with the scientist and the pokemon within his lab (including Sophia's as well). So this leads to Sophia having to infiltrate Cipher HQ to get her pokemon back (and maybe she wants to rescue the scientist). But yeah totally up for this so thoughts? SOPHIA VELOS

honestly the only way that sophia would allow her pokemon to be taken would be if she was asleep. so she misses all of the action due to cipher getting there in the middle of the night? they don't seem like the type of organization to be banging down the door at any rate.

we need a way of explaining how sophia even knows where cipher hq is. her clefable is a prankster who tends to wander off to cause trouble, so maybe she's gotten his ear chipped with a tracker? so when cipher abducts clefable (who probably snuck into the kitchen for a snack), they lead sophia straight to their hideout. sorry i'm trying to find a plausible reason for how sophia would have gotten the drop on such a secretive organization like cipher

of course it is entirely possible that clefable got himself abducted on purpose bc its fun
