maybe it's serendipity add sunglasses to her face, konechka in umbreon form by her heels, and she's good to go. alena misses the days, sometimes, when she wasn't the ceo, only the heir presumptive. when she'd only been a kid at school, even if in her case she's guaranteed employment. but now - the spotlight is harsher, and the weight is great. it's enough to make anyone crave a bit of normalcy. she doesn't sneak out anymore, though - not in the truest terms of the word. she tells her secretary she's gone for the day, and she drops off the grid. well, that might be a bit of an exaggeration. staryubucks isn't the greatest of places to be anonymous, after all, and less so in gateon's market place. but it's nostalgic, this, having konechka in her lap and her sipping coffee in the corner of the shop, people watching. there's some whispering in the crowd - this isn't phenac, where celebrities walk the streets in broad daylight - but at least none approach her. alena likes it like that, and leans back in her chair. there's a table for one in front of her, and there's nothing on it save a book she's long-since abandoned. (a businesswoman's life leaves no place for empty hours to simply read.) but at least she can have this, she thinks, and sighs. JUNIPER LANSING

[googlefont="Sonsie One"] someone to tell me no is all i'll ever need | google search "juniper eleanor lansing" and you will find no pictures. no information other than the name itself-- on the list of winners for the castelia chess tournament, and for track and field, and for the national arts honors society. as a child, she was lucky enough to avoid any sort of fame; her parents shielded her from the social media cliques and from the tabloid magazines that hunted them down every so often for photo-ops. she was not a children's fashion icon nor did she desire to be. this privilege was one of many june has completely ignored; taken for granted. these last months have been the hardest of her life, she thinks, sighing as she opens the still glowing laptop computer she had received last christmas. the screen protector is bright blue with a marill design, though she has a orange and red ponyta design she uses on occasion back at the hotel. she sips on her coffee, and then gets to work. her father's picture in the upper-lefthand corner plagues her. he quietly scolds her, "you're working too slow." "you can do better." juniper's fingers move increasingly quick across the keyboard. alena vasilieva |

maybe it's serendipity alena didn't bring a laptop with her - it's a cafe, with wifi, but insecure. it's free, though, so it stands to reason that people will be taking advantage of it. from her seat in the corner she can count at least three people typing away. only one of them is typing on a computer that don't show anything on the screen. there's a picture in the corner of the screen that she's too far away to properly see. it's obviously someone important to the girl; not a lot of people put pictures in such obvious places unless they're important. and alena might not be an expert in computer programming, but she's seen enough of the people who are to know what it looks like. she gets up, goes to the front counter. the barista recognizes her and alena flashes her a bright smile, pushes up her sunglasses just long enough to wink. between her request for anonymity and a tip in the jar, there's no problems. prize in hand, she heads over to the girl, umbreon at her heels. there's a low murmur in the staryubucks, as people talk and music plays overhead. it's enough to cover her words as she places down the pastry at the girl's elbow and murmur, "working hard?"JUNIPER LANSING
