When Alya decides that she wants to visit the Zero Research Facility, there's nothing that any of the scientists there can do to stop her. She is the most powerful trainer among them, and trying to stop her by force would only result in thousands of Pokedollars worth of equipment damage. As one new lab technician found out the hard way.
The administrator walks in through the sliding doors and makes her way to the back of the lab. She bullies one of the scientists into unlocking the security doors on the way.
She tuts as she examines the data on the Shadow Pokemon project. She couldn't expect that the level of development was on par with that of her homeland, but she still regrets that she was not given the master key card to the labs. Zero's methods were crude (needlessly painful), inefficient (drawn out), and costly (too many died in failed experiments).
Disappointment. It was a feeling that Alya was fully accustomed to.
"I want to see project ARC-150"
The temperature in the room seemed to have dropped about ten degrees. Her hostage seems to have finally grown a spine.
"No."
Alya raises an inquisitive brow. "Come again?"
"You could get us all killed." His voice is braver this time.
She sneers. "Does Doctor Maddison not believe that we are all working on the same team?" She's not. "Or are you telling me that you incompetent morons are still incapable of controlling the test subject?"
She's angry, and the man in the white coat trembles. She's not angry at him, he's sure. He hasn't done anything that would inspire such a focused, destructive fury. He doesn't take out his Magnemite. Not only would it have been futile, not resisting meant that there would still be a chance for forgiveness. Or divine intervention.
