(here's the secret: the vasiliev corporation has ties to the styx, and gives as much as it takes. the company has had assets in the underground from the start, has slipped more than a few illegal things in its shipments before the business bloomed, and the vasiliev do not forget their roots.)

the desert is their home grounds, now, but they still press their fingertips to the jugular veins of the port, the village, the cinder. alena is born to a time of potential, when the corporation is reaching its peak.
