it's the moment we're after with the mask on his face, he's almost anonymous.
he's here for a business meeting, but that's done already. money wired to accounts, spread over enough that it's not suspicious. vincent's been doing this for years, and he's not about to mess up now.
this is a meeting place, not his home, so he sticks his hands in his pockets and starts walking. he almost doesn't see where he's going but dodges in time when he turns the corner, sidestepping to the right and against the wall. he winces when he hits his shoulder but doesn't react more than that, and there's a moment of scrambling for proper footing.
there's laughter from his shadow but he ignores that, instead turns to the person he'd almost collided with and gives them his brightest, sorriest smile. "you alright? i didn't see you there."

some bodies may be temples but all are ruins at your feet Not wearing her helmet had been a mistake. Sophia sees that now, but the only people who had to walk around Ebon Apartments in masks were the kind of bottom-feeders who didn't belong there. She thought that, just for a moment -- if she just retired the persona -- What? Did she think that she could go back to being the girl that she was before? She isn't that naive. Sophia had killed the sort of folk who would hole themselves up in places like this. She was scared, and she had been young. Except neither of those excuses seemed to hold up in a grave such as this. Sophia turns the corner, her hands in her pockets. When a man appears before her, she thinks that it's the old trick, except her wallet is still in her hand. "Don't mind." is all that she mumbles as she proceeds. Or tries to. The Froslass following behind her pauses and looks at the man's shadow intently. Sophia herself moves on. vincent calder

it's the moment we're after she looks familiar. the froslass over her shoulder could be anyone, sure, but there's not a lot of fully-grown froslass running around nowadays. certainly not a lot walking around these parts. honestly, vincent should say none of my business. if he were anyone other than who he is, he'd say so. but that face is familiar, and he has his mask, and curiosity has only helped him in his line of work. but the woman moves on, leaving the froslass behind, so it's the ghost that he turns to instead. "i really am sorry about that, y'know?" vincent tosses in a sheepish laugh and rubbing the back of his neck for good measure - with the mask on his face, covering from his chin to under his eyes, his mouth and the smile can't be seen. in his shadow, nineve rolls her eyes, and the red gleams at the froslass. it's friendly, not challenging, and exasperated. vincent ignores her and whispers to the froslass, under his breath and conspiratorially, "is she mad at me?" as if that were the most horrid thing in the world to think about. "please tell me she's not mad at me."SOPHIA VELOS

some bodies may be temples but all are ruins at your feet The eyes belong to a tamed pet. Froslass then turns her wicked eye upon the human. She's not perturbed by the human, but the dangers that he might stand for. Sophia hadn't moved very far. She wasn't about to abandon her partner. Both of them would have sold their souls several times over if it meant staying together. She stands in the corner, just barely out of sight, but still close enough to hear the exchange. Fatimah had stopped for a reason. It's not the woman that he should have been worried about. The thing about ghosts is, they have a great long-term memory for faces. It's hard to be paranoid and bitter otherwise. The Froslass lets out a hollow cry that echoes off the cramped walls, and hopefully deafening the human's ears slightly. The woman understands the instruction to run. She dashes for the stairs, all pretenses of stealth abandoned. Did he see her face? Well, he wouldn't at this point. The Froslass follows behind, whipping up a Hail as she went. vincent calder

it's the moment we're after well, that could've gone better. on the one hand, sophia velos's departure from the styx hadn't been a quiet affair. there are many that seek her blood, sure, and though vincent himself has no quarrel with her several people he knows does. the information that she hangs around these parts will sell quite well; he knows that, as surely as he knows the froslass that's left a blizzard in her wake. if she hadn't done that, he might have left sleeping houndoom to lie. maybe. (there's already a list in the back of his head, of who would be interested in this turn of events.) he shakes it off; nineve does not give him a choice. mystical fire flares up around them as she rises from his shadow, pale blue flickering around in a ring to shield them from the worst of the hail. vincent doesn't say a word, leans back instead as he lets the ghost take the lead. mean look will hopefully pin the froslass in place, and if he remembers right of what he's heard from velos, the woman too will stay. and if not - well, a shadow sneak should work just fine in keeping them here. "i'm guessing you are then," vincent says, and he keeps his tone light. raises his hands into open palms to show that he's not armed. "if you're mad, you could've just said so. y'didn't need to leave ice in the hallway, y'know? that shit's expensive to clean up."SOPHIA VELOS

some bodies may be temples but all are ruins at your feet Fatimah remembers the first time that she had slept with this woman. At the time, she had been a Snorunt and Sophia had been a little girl. She was small, vulnerable. Not even the secretive child could hide her shiver when she pressed Fatimah against her chest. Why? Why did she try so hard? The Snorunt's icy body caused her obvious distress. Her breath fogs against her conical body. She never let go. Eventually, the Snorunt understood the depth of her love. In turn, it was Fatimah's love that drove her to leave Sophia's arms after the girl had fallen asleep. She loves this girl, but not at the expense of her health. When Fatimah evolves, the chill in her new form would have killed Sophia. She understands, this is the end of their childhood. This is the end of their pretensions. The two of them are weapons, not a child and her Pokemon. Do they still love? The partnership that they have -- does Fatimah still dare to call it love? Fatimah dodges the flames with the illusory tendencies of her Snow Cloak ability, but she can't leave. She hadn't looked away from the Mismagius' glare in time. She couldn't have. Her role was to be Sophia's eyes. Fatimah squints and sends a Confuse Ray their way. Then she conjures a chaotic Shadow Ball in her arms. Sophia pulls out a pair of snow goggles. They're not very fashionable, but the point was to remain unseen. She also pulls out the gun that she had been using to threaten a poor intruder just an hour before. She fires a single warning shot. Or maybe it hits the man. She isn't picky. vincent calder

it's the moment we're after yOG7KKKW <50 bullet hits 1-50 graze (due to low visibility) 51-70 intermediate wound 71-90 major wound 91-100 sophia's a damn sniper, he dies I CAN'T OMG -- despite the rumors, vincent is not suicidal. a gunshot sound. bang - it's barely audible over the hail. the impact sends him staggering. he hisses under his breath, starts cursing, and clamps a hand down. it got his arm - it's still in there, if he had to guess. the knowledge doesn't make it hurt less. nineve doesn't spin around, she's more experienced than that, but she abandons the shadow sneak and loosens her grip on the mean look. the confuse ray, she leans out of the way of - she can't afford to be dizzy. not right now. nineve doesn't have teleport. there is, vincent reflects, a certain amount of irony in this. "i see i'm not wanted here," he manages to cough out - fingers alone don't provide enough pressure to stop a bullet wound - and grins. it's not nice. "give miss velos my regards, won't you, miss froslass?"nineve is the one who whisks them away, levitate hurtling them down the corridors. /exit vincent SOPHIA VELOS ·

some bodies may be temples but all are ruins at your feet They have each other at the end of everything. Or they will, if they hold nothing back when their freedoms are threatened.
Froslass seals the corridor with a heavy Blizzard, freezing the path between them solid.
"Fatimah?" Footsteps come up from behind her. The Froslass does not turn around. Warm arms hold her tight. "Thank you..."
It would not do if Sophia were to hold her for a long time, but this is okay. For now, the Froslass lets her.
